WatchWatcher User Guide

Getting Started

  1. Add a watch by tapping the "+" button
  • Enter your watch's name

  • Select the brand from the dropdown list

  • Toggle "Vintage Watch" if your watch is vintage

Measuring Watch Accuracy

Manual Timing Method

  1. Select your watch from the list

  2. Set the reference time using the time picker

  3. When the reference time is reached, tap the "Tap" button

  4. The app will show how many seconds your watch is ahead or behind

  5. Each measurement is saved automatically

Camera Timing Method

  1. Select your watch from the list

  2. Tap the camera button in the top corner

  3. Position your watch in the frame so the time is clearly visible

  4. Tap the capture button to take a photo of your watch

  5. Use the time pickers to set the exact time shown on your watch

  6. Tap "Confirm" to save the measurement

  7. The app will automatically calculate the difference between your watch and the reference time

Understanding Results

  • Last Two Drift Rate: Shows how fast your watch is gaining/losing time based on the last two measurements

  • Overall Drift Rate: Shows the average rate of gain/loss across all measurements

  • Use the segmented control to switch between these views

Viewing and Sharing Data

Graph View

  • Tap the graph icon to see your watch's performance over time

  • View drift rates and timing variations graphically

  • See how your watch compares to others of the same brand

Online View

  • Create a shareable online view of your watch data

  • The link will always show your latest measurements

  • Share the link with others via email, messages, or social media

  • Your data remains private unless you share the link

Export Options

  • Tap Settings > Export Data to save your watch data as a JSON file

  • Tap Settings > Export Data as CSV to create a spreadsheet-compatible file

  • Share files via email, messages, or save to Files app

Import Data

  1. Go to Settings > Import Data

  2. Select a previously exported JSON file

  3. Your watches and measurements will be restored

Anonymous Statistics

  • Toggle "Share Anonymous Statistics" in Settings to contribute your watch data

  • This helps build aggregate statistics for different watch brands

  • No personal information is shared

  • View community statistics in the graph view

Tips

  • Take measurements at consistent intervals for best results

  • Wait at least several hours between measurements for accurate drift rates

  • Use the graph view to visualize your watch's performance over time

  • Delete individual measurements by swiping left in the measurements list

  • Your online view URL will remain the same for your device, making it easy to share updates

  • For watches that are running fast or slow, the app will predict the current watch time based on past measurements

  • Camera timing is great for watches that are difficult to read or when you want a visual record of your measurement

Privacy

  • All watch data is stored locally on your device

  • Statistics sharing is optional and anonymous

  • Online views are only accessible with the specific URL

  • You can export or delete your data at any time
